  • Rehabilitation of main runway (3000m x 60m) to bitumen standard.
  • Rehabilitation of secondary runway (1000m x 30m) to bitumen standard.
  • Rehabilitation and upgrading of taxiways to CODE 4E from 4C and construction of a new parallel taxiway.
  • Rehabilitation of aprons at Terminal I (bitumen) and Terminal II (partly bitumen and partly rigid).
  • Rehabilitation of Airfield Ground Lighting System (AGL) and installation of Precision Approach.
  • Environmental works (sewerage system)

  • Increased life span of the pavements.
  • Increased capacity of the airport to handle aircraft from 7 to 30 per hour.
  • An alternative Airport to Johannesburg (Oliver Tambo) International Airport of South Africa for bigger aircrafts (intercontinental flights) e.g. A380
